Overview
Khalsa School Newton is seeking homeroom teachers for Grade 1, 2 and 3 for all subjects. Khalsa School Newton is a faith-based elementary school located at Street in Surrey, BC. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We are an IB MYP authorized school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities.

Start Date:
September 1, 2026. This teacher will be provided with training to become an IB certified teacher.
Salary: $6600 per month (10 month fixed length contract)
Qualifications- Valid Teaching Certification in BC (Teaching certificates in other Canadian provinces and territories are acceptable as long as an application has been completed for a BC Teaching Certificate)
- You must be eligible to be employed in Canada. Special attention will be given to applicants who are certified to or can be certified to teach in British Columbia.
- Preferable:
Teaching experience within Canada - Ability to work full time
- Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty required
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents required
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required
Khalsa School is a Sikh school and a part of the student’s education at our schools includes education in the Sikh Faith (Sikh music, history, scriptures). However, these subjects are taught by our religious department and staff. Successful applicants will only be required to teach the BC Curriculum in English.
