Elementary School Teacher Grade 5​/6 - Humanities Teacher

Overview

Khalsa School Newton is looking for Humanities teachers for Grade 5 and Grade 6 (Language Arts and Social Studies) in a co‑teacher model. The school is IB MYP authorized. Position 1:
Grade 5 Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies) – co‑teacher. Position 2:
Grade 6 Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies) – co‑teacher.

• Teach Grade 5 or Grade 6 Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies) in a co‑teaching classroom.
• Plan instruction according to BC curriculum and be aware of BC educational requirements.
• Contribute to a supportive learning environment for inquisitive learners.

• Bachelor of Education (within Canada preferred) and eligible to be employed in Canada.
• Priority given to applicants certified to teach in British Columbia.
• BC Teaching License (required)
• English language proficiency (required)
• Educational experience: 1 year teaching (preferred)
• Canadian teaching experience is recognized and may affect starting pay.

Starting salary for a BC or Canadian certified teacher is $6,600 per month (subject to eligibility). Teachers who are subject‑restricted do not start on this scale.
