School Overview
Khalsa Secondary School is seeking Humanities positions for our Sikh faith‑based school located demic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are an IB MYP authorized World School and an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities. Our teachers are supported, have their own classroom, and have a prep in each semester.
Currently, we have two humanities teachers opening for September 2026.
We recognize North American teaching experience.
Position 1:Secondary School Junior Humanities Teacher
- LD Humanities 8 – Full Year (2 blocks)
- LD Humanities 9 – Full Year (2 blocks)
Secondary School Senior Humanities Teacher
- BA Psychology 12A (1 block)
- BC First Peoples 12 (3 blocks)
- EFP Literary Studies and Writing 10 (1 block)
- EFP Literary Studies and Writing 11 (2 blocks)
- English First Peoples 12 (1 block)
Starting salary of $6600 per month.
- Other salary benefits are available for this position.
- This salary is only offered to Certificate of Qualification teachers or teachers who have a completed application with the Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a CoQ.
- Teaching experience from within Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting salary for CoQ teachers.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Participate in parent‑teacher meetings and school events.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
- BC teaching certification.
- Proven experience teaching Humanities subjects or related subjects (preferable).
- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles.
- Teaching: 1 year (preferred).
- Proficient in proofreading educational materials.
- Classroom management expertise.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus.
- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Full‑time, Fixed term contract
