International Recruitment & Admissions Coordinator
We are currently seeking a International Recruitment & Admissions Coordinator to join our International team.
Job OverviewResponsible for service-oriented recruitment, admission processing and enrollment advising for prospective and new international students interested in undergraduate, post‑graduate diplomas, and preparatory programs at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). As the first point of contact for prospective international students and educational agents throughout the recruitment and admissions cycles, the coordinator provides on‑the‑spot admissions reviews and offers at their discretion during a variety of educational, community and professional activities and events in the Lower Mainland, nationally and internationally to recruit well‑qualified students.
The coordinator provides program‑specific admissions guidance to prospective applicants based on program suitability and eligibility, evaluating students’ needs, prior academic history and future goals. The position requires maintaining a high level of knowledge of current educational trends and practices in Canada and worldwide, as well as KPU admissions and transfer credit policies and procedures. The coordinator works with recruitment agencies, issues official letters including offer letters and letters of acceptance to qualified students.
- A Bachelor’s degree supplemented with a minimum of two years related student recruitment, educational advising and/or student services experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Full command of the English language, both oral and written.
- Fluency in at least one regional language (Sinhalese, Nepali, Urdu, Bengali, or Dzongkha) is required for success in this role.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience working with recruitment agencies, including contract preparation, invoicing and commission eligibility review.
- Excellent customer service skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong public relations and communication skills, responding verbally and in writing to the general public, government agencies, recruitment agencies, secondary and post‑secondary schools, and KPU’s academic and service departments.
- Knowledge of educational agencies, overseas work considered an asset, and experience working with international students, including cross‑cultural communication.
- Familiarity with different education systems in major international student source countries and understanding of B.C. and other Canadian secondary school systems.
- Familiarity with international admissions, foreign credential evaluation, immigration policies, and IRCC policy and study permit implications.
- Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative, service‑oriented relationships with internal and external clients (applicants, educational agents, faculty, staff, and prospective students).
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and social media tools; proficiency with BANNER or a similar integrated student information system preferred.
- Knowledge of admission and registration processes, following established procedures for admissions and service support for international students.
- Strong organizational, multitasking and problem‑solving skills; high level of initiative and independence.
- Adaptability in speaking and presenting to diverse audiences, delivering diplomatic responses under pressure.
- Experience in post‑secondary international recruitment activities such as formal presentations at education fairs, trade shows, community and business events.
- Professional conduct and confidentiality handling.
- Knowledge of training, education, or job requirements across a range of academic, trades and technical careers and pathway options.
- Ability to travel internationally on occasion and to other campuses; a valid B.C. driver’s license and safe driving record preferred.
- Keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Oral and written fluency in English and a secondary language from KPU’s target markets (e.g., Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, or another language consistent with departmental priorities). Language requirements for the specific role will be specified in the posting.
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
