Khalsa School Newton is a faith‑based elementary school located at  Street in Surrey, BC. The school is an IB MYP authorized school and encourages teachers from diverse backgrounds. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith.

Position Overview
Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher – Full‑time, Permanent.

Start date:

September 1, 2026. The selected teacher will receive training to become an IB certified teacher.

Salary and Benefits
Starting salary of $6,600 (10 months). Salary may be increased for Teachers of Origin (CoQ) and/or for teaching experience in Canada.

Qualifications

BC Teaching Certification (or certification from another Canadian province/territory with an application for a BC certificate completed).

Eligibility to be employed in Canada.

Preferred:
Teaching experience within Canada.

Ability to work full time.

Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of the instructional specialty required.

Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives, including the needs and abilities of students.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Additional Requirements
Success will only require teaching the BC Curriculum in English. The school provides Sikh Faith education in other classes, but this role does not involve teaching the faith curriculum.

Schedule
Monday to Friday, full‑time (10-month school year).

Location
In person, Surrey, BC. Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate before starting.
