Position Overview
Khalsa School Newton is seeking homeroom teachers for Grades 1, 2 and 3 covering all subjects. The school is a faith‑based elementary school located at Street in Surrey, BC, and is an IB MYP authorised school. Teachers of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The school offers a supportive environment with classroom ownership and community involvement.

Salary and Conditions
Salary: $6,600 per month (10‑month fixed‑length contract).
Only offered to C.O.Q. teachers or teachers with a completed application with the Teacher Certification Branch for a C.O.Q. Candidate. Subject‑restricted (Independent School Certified) teachers are invited to apply. Teaching experience in Canada is recognised for a possible higher starting salary.
Qualification Requirements
Valid teaching certification in British Columbia (certificates from other Canadian provinces or territories are acceptable with an application for a BC teaching certificate completed).
Eligibility for employment in Canada.
Preferably, teaching experience within Canada.
Ability to work full time.
Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty required.
Ability to plan and implement lessons based on divisional and school objectives, including the needs and abilities of students.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
School Identity and Curriculum
The school includes education in Sikh faith (music, history, scriptures) taught by a separate religious department. Applicants will only be required to teach the BC Curriculum in English.
