Job Overview

Khalsa School Newton is seeking homeroom teachers for Grade 4 all subjects. The school is a faith-based elementary school located at  Street in Surrey, BC. It is an IB MYP authorized school and encourages teachers from all diverse backgrounds.

Position Details

Three openings for the 2026‑2027 school year beginning September 1, 2026. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and will receive training to become an IB certified teacher. Salary is $6,600 per month for a 10‑month fixed‑length contract.

This position is offered only to CoQ teachers or teachers who have completed an application with the Teacher Certification Branch for a CoQ. Teaching experience in Canada may result in a higher starting salary for CoQ teachers. The role is full‑time, in‑person, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications
  • Valid Teaching Certification in BC (certificates from other Canadian provinces and territories are acceptable if a BC application has been completed).
  • Eligibility to be employed in Canada.
  • Preferred:
    Teaching experience within Canada.
  • Ability to work full time.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty required.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives, including the needs and abilities of students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Responsibilities
  • Teach the BC Curriculum in English to Grade 4 homeroom students.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons that align with school objectives and student needs.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the religious department and staff as required.
