High School Math Teacher/Tutor Wanted
Motivated by mathematics? Excited by equations? Eager to help students succeed in math? The Oxford Learning Clayton Heights learning centre is seeking a part‑time teacher‑tutor for after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm–8:00 pm) and occasional Saturday shifts. The role does not require lesson planning as all lessons are pre‑planned, and training in our proprietary philosophy and methods is provided.
Position RequirementsTeacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm–8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am–3:00 pm). Availability until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through summer is better. The position is in‑person and requires commuting to Surrey, British Columbia. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. Relocation packages are not available.
Education- University students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
- Good knowledge of the current Grade 8–12 math curriculum, particularly senior math, including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors.
- Some experience teaching or tutoring math at Grade 8–12 (or equivalent) level.
- Strong English written and oral communication skills.
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
- Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
- Deliver instruction in person (office‑based) and online.
- Apply the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
