We have an immediate opening for a Workshop Instructor (Personal Care Workshops & Body Mechanics Workshops) in Surrey, BC!
About the Role
Body Mechanics Workshops:
The Body Mechanics Workshop will provide students with practical instruction on safe body mechanics to prevent injury. The workshop focuses on protecting themselves and clients when lifting, transferring, and positioning clients, and supporting clients using mobility aids. Workshop content may vary depending on the program and the students' future career needs, allowing instruction to tailored to the specific student group.
Personal Care Workshops:
The Person al Care Workshop prepares students in our Education Assistant program to use safe and respectful approaches to essential care and assistance skills, including personal hygiene and grooming, oral care, and assisting with bathroom and toileting routines.
- Location: Surrey, BC
- Employment Type: Part-Time, Contract
- Schedule: These workshops are offered several times throughout the year, with each workshop running for approximately 2-3 hours, depending on the program and student group.
- Compensation: $50 per hour
What You Will Do:
The successful candidate will facilitate Personal Care and/or Body Mechanics workshops for students preparing for careers in healthcare or school environments. The facilitator will deliver hands-on, practical instruction designed to build students' confidence and competence in essential personal care and safe patient-handling skills.
Qualifications:
- Must be a member in good standing with their relevant professional body (BCCNM or the BC Care Aide Registry)
- Must have a minimum of five years current experience as either a Health Care Assistant (HCA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN)
- Prior teaching experience is an asset
