About Moment Energy

Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it.

Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.

The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.

Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.

We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.

Now is the moment. Join us.

The Role

As we scale our technology and expand across North America, we are looking for a Regulatory & Certification Affairs Principal to help shape the regulatory and certification landscape for battery energy storage.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to be at the forefront of the energy transition. Not simply responding to regulations and certification requirements, but helping influence how those requirements evolve!

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as Moment Energy's subject matter expert and external voice on regulatory, certification, standards, and public policy matters affecting battery energy storage systems.
  • Monitor proposed and emerging legislation, regulations, codes, standards, and certification requirements that could impact BESS technology, deployment, recycling, second-life batteries, and grid-connected energy storage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulators, standards organizations, certification bodies, industry associations, utilities, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent Moment Energy in industry working groups, technical committees, standards organizations, regulatory proceedings, and policy discussions.
  • Identify upcoming regulatory and certification changes early and translate their potential impact into clear recommendations for Engineering, Product, Operations, and Leadership.
  • Advocate for science-based, technology-neutral, and practical regulatory and certification frameworks that enable safe deployment and growth of battery energy storage.
  • Proactively engage with policymakers and regulatory stakeholders to educate them on BESS technology, second-life batteries, safety, environmental benefits, and the realities of deploying energy storage systems.
  • Develop and execute strategies to influence proposed policies, regulations, codes, and certification requirements in ways that support the responsible growth of energy storage.
  • Coordinate Moment Energy's responses to proposed regulatory changes, including comment letters, stakeholder submissions, consultation responses, and industry position papers.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Certification teams to understand technical requirements and ensure Moment Energy's technical position is accurately represented in regulatory and policy discussions.
  • Track certification requirements across relevant jurisdictions and identify opportunities to streamline certification pathways and reduce unnecessary barriers to deployment.
  • Develop relationships with certification laboratories and organizations to help anticipate changes and improve Moment Energy's certification strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for Moment Energy to participate in standards development and industry initiatives that will shape the future of energy storage.
  • Prepare executive briefings, regulatory updates, policy analyses, and recommendations that help leadership understand changes in the external environment.
  • Maintain a forward-looking regulatory and certification roadmap, identifying emerging risks, opportunities, and strategic priorities.
  • Partner…
