Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are a globally recognized power system study consultant delivering a full spectrum of analysis and engineering services. Our expertise spans electromagnetic transient switching studies, power system planning and operations studies including transient, small‑signal, voltage, and frequency stability—post‑mortem system disturbance investigations, and generation/load interconnection studies.
We also develop and validate generator, renewable (wind/solar), and load models through field testing, and support comprehensive NERC compliance requirements (TPL, PRC, MOD, CIP, and more). In addition, we are equipped with a Real‑Time Digital Simulator (RTDS), enabling real‑time evaluation and testing of new control, protection, and communication schemes and devices.
Our Power System Study and Modeling Engineers play a key role in various types of power system studies and modeling work for renewables (wind, solar and BESS, etc.) and large industrial loads. We are seeking up to two Study Engineers to join our team of highly experienced power system experts and specialists. The successful candidate will conduct a wide range of power system studies and support ongoing software development efforts, contributing to innovative, high‑quality solutions for our clients.
Review generation and industrial loads technical documents related to system modelling and control strategies
Develop or validate RMS (or phasor‑domain) and EMT (Electromagnetic transient) simulation models of renewables sites and large loads based on field measurements
Perform model quality tests in TSAT, PSCAD, PSS/E and/or other platforms as required by transmission utilities and reliability entities
Prepare study cases for power flow, short‑circuit, and dynamic simulation studies, including creation of steady‑state and transient study contingencies pursuant to study scope and requirements
Perform power flow, short‑circuit, contingency analysis, stability (transient, small‑signal, voltage, and frequency) and transfer studies
Perform power system planning and operational studies including grid compliance studies, system impact studies of generations and loads
Develop user‑defined models for special power system control and protection schemes and equipment for use in DSATools
TM and other simulation platforms.
Prepare technical study reports for generator and load interconnection studies, grid compliance studies, and model validation reports per regulatory requirements.
Develop proposals in response to request for proposal (RFP) and/or developing work scope based on clients’ needs.
Participate in software development and testing of new software releases
Qualifications
A Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university specializing in Power Systems, including power systems analysis, modeling techniques, and computational algorithms.
Registered (or eligible for immediate registration) as Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
For Senior roles, at least 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering with expertise in power system planning and operational studies; power system research; power system analysis software development and customer support.
New graduates who are eligible to register as EITs and interested in power system analysis and simulation are encouraged to apply. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Strong knowledge of power system modeling and calculation methods, such as steady‑state (power flow, contingency, and voltage stability), short‑circuit, and transient and small‑signal stability (time…
