PSTI has an immediate opening for a Protection Engineer.

PSTI has diligently and successfully served clients in Alberta and Western Canada for over two decades. PSTI operates as a fully owned company of Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI).
A leading power engineering consultant firm, ECI provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
Responsibilities- Provide power system protection services including system model development, short circuit analysis, relay settings development, area coordination studies, standards development, relay operation analysis, and technical reviews of drawings and relay settings.
- Support project delivery from the protection team led by the Protection Supervisor.
- Mentor less experienced engineers through direct training and technical review of work.
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years protection engineering experience
- Proficiency in ASPEN Oneliner software
- In‑depth knowledge of system protection coordination and philosophy
- Working knowledge of common power system high voltage apparatus and I (inverter‑based resource)
- Proficiency in Siemens APA (formerly CAPE) or ETAP is considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Ability to work in a team workplace
- Commitment to quality and accuracy
- Willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules
- P.Eng. license is required
- US PE license may be required
- Knowledgeable of applicable codes, standards and design tools
- Subject to client‑mandated drug and background checking
