Position Overview

Fortis

BC is seeking a Senior Integrity Engineer, Geotechnical to support the safe and reliable operation of our gas transmission pipeline system. This role focuses on identifying and managing natural hazards—such as ground movement, erosion, flooding, and seismic impacts—that may affect pipeline assets.

In this role, you’ll apply your geotechnical and hydrotechnical expertise to assess risks and support practical solutions that strengthen long‑term system reliability. You’ll work closely with the Senior Geotechnical Engineer on complex assignments while independently managing a variety of small to medium‑scale projects.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams on Capital and Operations and Maintenance initiatives that require geotechnical or hydrotechnical input. The role also involves coordinating with external consultants as part of Fortis

BC’s natural hazards program, supporting field investigations, reviewing findings, and contributing to mitigation and monitoring activities.

Clear communication and collaboration are essential, as you’ll work across teams and help translate technical information into practical guidance that supports safety, regulatory expectations, and informed decision‑making.

This is an opportunity to work on meaningful, real‑world challenges while helping protect communities and strengthen critical energy infrastructure across British Columbia.

In year 1, you will:
  • Develop a solid understanding of the company’s pipeline system, geohazard inventory, monitoring tools, and integrity management processes.
  • Lead several small to medium geotechnical assignments from scoping through reporting, demonstrating sound engineering judgment and consistent quality.
  • Build effective working relationships with operations, construction, environment, and project management teams.
In year 2, you will:
  • Develop mitigation concepts independently and contribute to design reviews with well‑supported engineering recommendations.
  • Play a key role in the annual geohazard monitoring and hydrotechnical, including identifying recurring issues or emerging trends and propose improvements to monitoring strategies, data interpretation methods, or mitigation planning.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for operations, construction, and project teams by providing timely guidance, supporting field execution, and improving communication of geotechnical risks to non‑technical stakeholders.
What it takes:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5-8 years of relevant geotechnical or hydrotechnical experience
  • P.Eng. designation in BC required.
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering, including slope stability, earthworks, geohazard assessment, or related fields.
  • Experience in the pipeline, energy, or infrastructure sectors is an asset.
  • Familiarity with hydrotechnical processes, field investigation methods, and geotechnical design principles is preferred.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life‑long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
