Location:

This role is site-based at KSM Mine, Hwy 37, BC. Camp accommodations and transportation to the site are provided by Seabridge Gold from Terrace, BC. This position operates on a 14x14 day rotational schedule.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Site HSS Manager, the successful Health and Safety Advisor will provide leadership and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety programs on site. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, supporting incident investigations, monitoring compliance with HSS policies and regulatory requirements, and providing guidance to managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors. This role will also deliver HSS mentorship, offering solutions to identify hazards, mitigate risks, and foster a positive safety culture while collaborating closely with site leadership, HSS personnel, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Key accountabilities include conducting workplace inspections and audits, reviewing safety procedures, tracking corrective actions, providing training and support for the project Volunteer Emergency Response Team, supporting HSS training and orientation programs, and maintaining HSS documentation. The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for advancing HSS initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with project objectives, regulatory standards, and corporate safety commitments.

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System; monitor, evaluate, and interpret results, providing guidance to staff and contractors on improving H&S performance.
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to management, department staff, contractors, and vendors regarding the implementation of project HSS plans, procedures, rules, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in developing safety protocols and procedures and drive cultural change to achieve project safety goals.
  • Support the development of emergency response planning and associated training programs, schedules, and drills. Coordinate with employees and contractors to ensure training records are maintained and current.
  • Provide consultation and support in risk identification, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation initiatives. Provide oversight and auditing of contractors supporting scopes in the assigned area.
  • Follow up on all reported incidents to ensure thorough investigations are conducted, and support supervisors and contractors with incident investigations, incident reporting, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date H&S records, reports, and documentation in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep current with applicable legislation, standards, and guidelines, and lead the adoption of new standards where appropriate.
  • Conduct and facilitate hazard identification and risk management activities, workplace inspections, and safety audits, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Plan and prioritize daily activities in alignment with the position responsibilities.
  • Monitor site activities and complete a daily field report documenting site observations. Communicate and coordinate with the HSS Superintendent on all identified concerns.
