As a Technical Customer Sales Specialist, you will act as a trusted technical partner to our customers. This role blends technical knowledge, customer service, and consultative sales, supporting customers throughout the lifecycle of their equipment.

You will work closely with OSB producers to:

  • Provide technical support and application guidance
  • Identify opportunities for aftermarket parts, upgrades, and retrofits
  • Translate customer needs into clear technical and commercial proposals

This position involves regular travel to customer sites across Canada, the United States, and internationally, where you will interface with maintenance teams, engineers, and plant leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Specify and define scope for machine retrofits, upgrade packages, and spare parts
  • Prepare detailed and accurate technical quotations, working collaboratively with engineering, service, inside sales and manufacturing teams
  • Interpret and discuss mechanical, electrical and hydraulic drawings with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, acting as a technical resource for customers
  • Develop and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with key customer contacts
  • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions to improve performance, reliability, and safety
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of KCD equipment and systems across all product lines
  • Support the service department and customers with project preparation and planning
  • Manage project schedules and ensure key milestones and customer deliverables are met
  • Document customer interactions, technical requirements, and project details clearly and professionally
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with hands‑on experience working with industrial equipment
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems (pumps, valves, cylinders, fluid power principles, controls, sensors, motors, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical drawings
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with customers
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a consultative, problem‑solving approach
  • Comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally including the Unites States
  • Passion for continuous improvement and learning
  • Considered Assets:
    • Experience in industrial or technical sales
    • Experience in the OSB, wood products, or engineered wood industries
    • Background in manufacturing machinery or capital equipment
    • Field service or maintenance experience in an industrial environment
    • Experience with an ERP system, preferably Epicor.
