Purpose

of the Position

IEM is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer for our Surrey, B.C. location. The role reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager and supports lean initiatives, kaizen activities, standard work documentation, and data‑driven process improvement. This hands‑on position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about lean manufacturing and eager to grow in a structured CI environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support cross‑functional kaizen events focused on lean fundamentals, standard work, visual management, flow, problem‑solving and strategic growth/capacity initiatives
  • Assist in the implementation of tools and processes across operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial functions
  • Develop internal capability by supporting the training and coaching of team members and leaders in lean thinking, daily management and continuous improvement practices
  • Create improvement roadmaps based on assessments of the business system maturity
  • Enable teams to embrace standardization, accountability, and data‑driven decision making
  • Identify and document internal best practices
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field; MBA or Master’s preferred
  • 3‑5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement, preferably in a multi‑site or matrixed industrial environment
  • Deep understanding of Lean principles (e.g., 5S, value‑stream mapping, standard work, visual management, PDCA, SMED, A3 problem‑solving)
  • Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional kaizen events and system‑wide CI initiatives
  • Understanding of basic ops finance, including P&L impact, cost drivers, and fixed vs. variable costs
  • Strong facilitation, project management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promo table with potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast‑paced, high‑growth organization
