About

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects by reviewing project specifications, drawings, site conditions, and customer requirements. This role also develops estimates for special projects where drawings may not be available, requiring site visits, field measurements, and information gathered directly from customers to define scope and pricing.

The Electrical Estimator supports accurate budgeting and pricing efforts while building strong vendor relationships to secure competitive and reliable pricing.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare estimates and quotations for industrial electrical projects, including special projects where no drawings are available and pricing must be developed from site observations, measurements, and customer requirements;
  • Conduct site visits to gather project information, take measurements, photos, and notes, and assess existing electrical systems;
  • Develop detailed electrical scope of work documents and obtain customer approval to ensure project requirements and expectations are aligned;
  • Work closely with project managers, operations teams, and estimators to support electrical upgrade, maintenance, and design‑build projects;
  • Determine when engineering support is required and coordinate with internal or external electrical engineering resources as needed;
  • Collaborate with electrical designers and engineers to obtain specifications, drawings, and technical information required for project costing;
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial electrical projects, including power distribution, lighting, controls, conduit, wiring, and equipment installations;
  • Request, review, and compare pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to develop competitive and reliable project estimates;
  • Compile electrical scope, pricing, assumptions, and supporting documentation for proposal and RFQ submissions;
  • Develop preliminary Bills of Materials (BOMs), Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs), and project handoff documentation for awarded work;
  • Support the pricing and preparation of change orders and scope revisions throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and industry partners to support accurate estimating and cost planning.
What You Bring

The ideal candidate is a skilled Electrical Estimator with experience in commercial and industrial environments. You are a self‑starter who takes initiative, manages competing priorities effectively, and delivers accurate, timely estimates. You are comfortable working with incomplete information and can confidently assess site conditions, identify project requirements, and develop practical pricing solutions, including for projects where drawings may not be available.

You possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and applicable codes, along with the ability to build productive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Highly organized and detail‑oriented, you exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively, and approach challenges with a positive, solutions‑focused mindset. You are committed to safety, quality, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
