Quality Inspector

Aplin Martin is a full‑service civil engineering, architecture, planning, environmental and surveying firm with over 57 years of experience creating sustainable communities across Canada.

The Civil Field Inspector will perform field inspections, prepare review reports, and help resolve field issues to ensure projects meet engineering designs and municipal standards. The role requires collaboration with engineering staff, project managers, contractors, municipal officials, and the public.

• Review municipal engineering design drawings and correspondence for land development projects and capital works improvements.
• Conduct field inspections to verify compliance with design standards and approved practices.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.
• Prepare monthly progress payments and Letter of Credit reductions.
• Liaise with clients, municipal staff, contractors, and local residents.
• Perform general construction administration tasks consistently and timely.
• Attend client, contractor, and municipal meetings; record notes and outcomes.
• Demonstrate understanding of the scope of work on engineering drawings.
• Recognize contractual obligations under CCDC Stipulated Price or Unit Price Contracts and company standards.
• Provide timely responses to internal and external parties to ensure work completion.
• Assist with review of draft and final as‑constructed drawings to confirm accurate field representation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Preferred experience in civil construction environments.
• Experience with MMCD contracts is an asset.
• Registered or qualified to register as a Technician or Technologist with ASTTBC is an asset.
• Knowledge of local municipal construction standards and specifications.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional, positive attitude with problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects or issues simultaneously.
• Effective time management to meet firm deadlines.
• Valid provincial driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.
• Limited knowledge of construction administration processes.
• Computer proficiency;
  Microsoft Office, internet applications, and related job‑related programs.

Salary range: $61,000 to $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
