Job Description & How to Apply Below

Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it.

Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.

The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.

Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.

We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.

Now is the moment. Join us.

The Opportunity

Moment Energy is seeking an R&D Test Technician to join our Validation & Verification team and support the testing and development of our battery energy storage systems.

In this role, you'll work alongside Design and Test Engineers to set up, instrument, and execute developmental tests on prototypes, power systems, and battery components. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and senior technicians, you'll gain hands‑on experience operating specialized test equipment, collecting and documenting test data, and supporting prototype development.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or junior engineer who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to build a career in product development, testing, and validation within the clean energy industry.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Apply sensors, including thermocouples, RTDs, and simple strain gauges, to prototype systems and route signals to Data Acquisition (DAQ) units.
  • Run pre‑defined test scripts using battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and mechanical test fixtures under supervision.
  • Perform basic soldering, wire crimping, and assembly modifications on early‑stage prototype boards and mechanical chassis.
  • Collect, organize, and document raw test data in engineering databases while recording test observations and physical anomalies.
The Candidate We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
  • Completed a 2‑year College Diploma in Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering Technology, or a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Recent graduates and junior engineers seeking hands‑on laboratory, testing, and product development experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi‑meters, power supplies, and other basic electrical test equipment.
  • Comfortable using standard hand tools and performing basic soldering, wire crimping, and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately collect, organize, and document test data.
  • Strong curiosity, analytical thinking, and a desire to understand how products perform and why failures occur.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and following established testing procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn from experienced engineers and technicians.
Nice-to-Have

Experience:
  • Experience working in an engineering laboratory, research environment, or academic capstone project involving testing or prototyping.
  • Familiarity with Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, environmental chambers, battery cyclers, or mechanical testing equipment.
  • Exposure to lithium‑ion batteries, battery energy storage systems (BESS), power electronics, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Experience supporting prototype assembly, validation, or verification activities.
  • Basic understanding of engineering documentation, test reports, or technical data analysis.
  • Today, we’re delivering 5x the energy density and have all the certifications needed to ship energy independence to the world.
  • Be part…
