Job Description & How to Apply Below

Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it.

Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.

The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.

Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.

We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.

Now is the moment. Join us.

The Role

The Lead Systems Engineer will spearhead the architecture, integration, and technical lifecycle of our Battery Energy Storage Systems. This role bridges multidisciplinary engineering teams and spans across electrical, mechanical, software, and battery domains. This person will help translate customer needs into robust, scalable, and certifiable product requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the system-level architecture, definition, and integration of Moment Energy's Battery Energy Storage Systems, connecting electrical, battery, mechanical, firmware, software, and controls subsystems into a cohesive product.
  • Translate system and customer requirements into clear technical requirements, specifications, interfaces, and engineering objectives.
  • Own system requirements and maintain traceability from requirements through design, integration, testing, and validation.
  • Work closely with the the Battery Management System team to define system interfaces, requirements, communication protocols, and integration between the BMS and other BESS subsystems.
  • Work closely with other cross-functional teams to ensure systems are designed and integrated effectively.
  • Define and document system architectures, interfaces, operating requirements, and integration plans across product development programs.
  • Lead technical discussions and drive resolution of complex, multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
  • Identify technical risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate risks and tradeoffs to engineering and leadership.
  • Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, requirements, test plans, and technical procedures.
  • Lead or support system integration, verification, validation, and commissioning, ensuring products meet performance, safety, reliability, and customer requirements.
  • Work with Engineering and Certification teams to support product safety, regulatory compliance, and certification requirements for energy storage systems.
  • Partner with customer-facing teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize architectures, interfaces, and product features across projects to improve scalability and reduce engineering effort.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers while helping establish strong systems engineering practices across the organization.
  • Contribute hands‑on engineering support when needed, including troubleshooting, system bring‑up, testing, design reviews, and root‑cause analysis.
The Candidate

We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience in systems engineering, systems integration, or multidisciplinary product development.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, system communications, and hardware/software interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and managing system…
