Working in a dynamic environment and reporting to the Manager, Risk Management Services, the Risk Advisor is primarily responsible for supporting the district’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. The Risk Advisor will provide critical support for an updated ERM program, conducting strategic and operational risk assessments and supporting risk treatment plans. The Risk Advisor works with relevant risk liaisons across the organization to identify, assess, document, and assist in managing critical operational and strategic risks and opportunities.

The Risk Advisor supports the development of ERM tools, implementation of district’s ERM framework, and provides advisory services as a trusted risk advisor to the organization. The Risk Advisor will support the development of policy, risk tolerance standards, risk practices, risk transfer processes, governance models and compliance programs, working closely with the Risk Management Services team to inspire and drive change.

As part of the Risk Management Services team, the position serves as a resource for risk management related issues in a complex, fast‑paced environment, requiring the ability to envision risks that might be otherwise unnoticeable to others, identify the magnitude of those risks and find solutions to manage risk through research, planning, problem‑solving and collaboration. The nature and scope of work requires a significant degree of independence and judgement in a specialized area of practice.

The Risk Advisor may occasionally assist with various Risk Management Service activities including claims administration, contract review and emergency planning and business continuity functions.

This is a term assignment for 12 months*

• A minimum of three (3) years recent experience in risk management, with direct experience contributing to an enterprise risk management program.
• Experience in a leadership role desired.
• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in risk management, business management, project management, or related business discipline.
• Completion of Risk Management Certification (CRM, CRMP, RIMS Fellow)
• Experience in the public sector is an asset.
