Pay: $25.00 – $29.00 per hour (+ bonus/incentive)

The OpportunityThe Mortgage Loan Specialist (Floating) is responsible for gathering and assessing financial information on members for the purpose of qualifying status for mortgage loans, The MLS will possess knowledge in answering inquiries frommembers on real estate loans and rates. Provide members with applications, interview for routine loans, andobtain additional information as required. Prepare, assess, process, and document all required forms and related documentation for real estate loans.
Promote Ontario Shores FCU’s products and services.
- Assist members with the loan application process.
- Review process mortgage loan applications and conduct loan interviews with members when necessary.
- Follow-up with members to obtain necessary documentation.
- Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports on applicants.
- Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application.
- Provide all applicable disclosures.
- Calculate closing costs and provide a good faith estimate for closing costs to members.
- Request flood certification to identify if property is or is not in a flood zone.
- Perform various preliminary reviews on loan files such as title reports, flood determination, hazard binders and appraisals.
- Establish repayment and interest schedule based upon loan guidelines and rates.
- Prepare closing package, researching, and resolving all items in the closing packet to ensure closing process is on time and documentation is complete and accurate.
- Pay title company fees for title searches, legal work, and appraisals.
- Pay real‑estate taxes, including calculating tax shortages and new monthly payments.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance and taxes on real‑estate loans.
- Maintain escrow accounts for the payment of members’ taxes and insurance premiums.
- Assist with consumer loans as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in mortgage regulations and industry trends.
- Build network of strong relationships with real estate agents and other industry professionals to ensure growth in real estate lending.
- Be a visible presence in the local community. Promote the credit union through visible participation in business, community, and networking events.
- Experience in real estate lending is a plus.
- Three to five years of similar or related experience.
- Experience in the financial field will be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, time management, and people skills.
- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem‑solving skills.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well‑organized.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- College Degree, High School Diploma, or GED.
