Our client is a Canadian digital media and entertainment company. They are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join their team!

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, established accounting policies, and internal controls.
- Supervise, review, and mentor accounting staff, providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting systems, processes, and workflows for financial data collection and reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable standards.
- Partner with external accountants and auditors to support financial reviews, audits, and related documentation requirements.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities aligned with organizational objectives.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with tax filing and reporting requirements, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and applicable tax incentive programs (e.g., SR&ED, film and digital media credits).
- Coordinate with external advisors to prepare and manage tax filings, incentive claims, and related supporting documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operational and management teams to ensure financial accuracy, transparency, and informed decision-making.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, automation, and scalable best practices, including participation in system implementations and special projects.
- CPA designation or CPA in progress.
- 3-5 years progressive accounting experience, in a small or mid-sized business environment.
- Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Public Accounting experience.
- Corporate Tax experience.
- Film, media, or creative production industry experience.
$80,000 - $120,000 / year
