Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Term Full Time Crime Analyst 2 position. Reporting to the Criminal Analysis Manager, the incumbent provides specialized research work involving the application of researchtechniques to support highly complex criminal investigative activities,operational programs, and crime reduction strategies. The incumbent providesstatistical, tactical, and strategic crime analysis services and intelligence information to management. Considerable independence of judgment is exercised.
The position is anticipated to begin in November 2026 and continue for approximately 12 months . The duration of the term may be shortened orextended based on operational needs.
Thisis an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subjectto change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
- Reviewspolice occurrence files to determine immediate crime problems and patterns of criminal activity.
- Preparessuspect and victim profiles, suspect lists, maps, and other graphicrepresentations of criminal activity.
- Evaluates and validates intelligence information gathered from various sources.
- Develop sand maintains comprehensive files, records, and documentation.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with staff and external agencies.
- Assistsin the design and planning of projects relative to specific developments ordetailed investigations.
- Determineswhich research methodologies are to be utilized for each project.
- Participateson project teams to monitor and identify the nature and scope of emerging and persistent crime problems, trends, socio-economic or demographic factorsrelated to the problem and assess the probability of future crime problems andtrends.
- Preparesreports and recommendations for implementing strategies to address identified problems and trends. Provides statistical information and crime analysis.
- Providesadvice and assistance on crime analysis and research to members and outside agencies.
- Provide straining to members, staff and external agencies on methods and techniques ofcompilation of data.
- Deliverspresentations, briefings, and situation reports on crime trends and related matters.
- Providesongoing recommendations in regard to policies, procedures, and operations.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field of crime analysis.
- Providescourt testimony as required.
- Operatesvarious Surrey Police Service (SPS) operational computer systems.
- Assists other staff in performing their duties.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- Completion of a university degree in a related discipline including coursework in appliedresearch and statistics.
- Completion of a specialty analytic training certificate.
- Minimumof five years related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearancethroughouttheir employment with SPS,
which includesa mandatory polygraph examination.
