As a full-time member of the Operational Communications Centre, the Telecommunications Operator 2 has a responsibility to manage emergency and non-emergency communications effectively. This involves evaluating calls, dispatching police resources, and providing essential information to both officers and the public. The role demands independence of judgment and a proactive approach to varied duties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Take emergency 911 and general inquiry calls promptly
• Dispatch officers and coordinate with multiple agencies
• Maintain up-to-date records for all incoming communications
• Provide critical information to ensure community safety
• Conduct training and assist colleagues as necessary
Requirements:
• Completion of Grade 12 and police telecommunications training
• Minimum one year of related dispatch experience
• Typing skill of 45 wpm is essential
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends
• Obtain required security clearances as per regulations
