Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and procedures are adopted. Plan, implement, monitor and review the pro‑active and preventative measures to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries. Evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the workplace. Ensure compliance with government regulations and COR Compliance. Will implement, facilitate and direct the comprehensive health and safety program to align with COR standards under the direction of the corporate health and safety team in alignment with the corporate health and safety policies and procedures.

The Provincial Safety Supervisor is required to understand, know and implement the Allmar OHSMS (Occupational Health & Safety Management System).

Job Responsibilities

Duties:
But not limited to…

Training
  • Ensure workers have the required training for the tasks they are to complete.
  • Complete all mandatory COR Safety courses to qualify as an auditor in order to conduct an internal COR audit.
  • Ensure all Management have the required Safety Training as per the Provincial COR and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Familiarize themselves with the Knowbe4 safety training platform.
  • Monitor expiration dates for outside training. (e.g., First Aid, Scissor Lift, Forklift, etc.)
  • Lead in‑house training with managers and employees about health and safety.
  • Ensure all branches in their province carry out fire drills as per their legislation.
  • Maintain knowledge of the occupational health and safety legislation and communicate updates and changes to Branch Managers within your province. Forward this information to the Corporate Health & Safety Officer.
  • Ensure JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee), inspections, and shop talks are being held at each branch in their province on the dates scheduled.
  • Respond to employee questions relating to workplace health and safety.
Documentation
  • Ensure safety representatives post and maintain all safety bulletins, safety posters and safety regulations as required.
  • Receive reports of inspections and offer suggestions of improvement from each branch as per regulations.
  • Collect, scan and upload all copies of documentation required for the Provincial COR audit.
  • Ensure all OHS records and documents are scanned to the Provincial COR folders and are accessible to the NSO.
  • Ensure all SDS are verified as the most current available every 3 years at the branch level.
  • Review all incident reports in their branches and conduct a follow‑up to the incident.
  • Conduct annual COR audits as regulated.
  • Create a corrective action plan and implement changes.
Workers Compensation Board
  • Assist HR in the completion of WCB claims regarding incident information and assist with all other branch supervisors in completing these documents.
  • Pull WCB clearance letters for all subcontractors in their respective province.
  • Provide Allmar clearances for all projects as requested.
  • Have a basic understanding of WCB and WSIB as required.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Education And Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in health and safety for the construction‑related industry.
  • Certificate from the Association for Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
