Serene Aid is currently building a province-wide network of qualified Occupational Therapists to support our healthcare partners with community-based client assessments across Ontario.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Occupational Therapists seeking flexible, project-based work with the ability to accept assignments based on their availability and preferred geographic coverage.

Position Summary

Occupational Therapists will be engaged on an assignment basis to complete one-time client assessments within the community. Assessments will help determine clients' functional abilities, home safety needs, equipment requirements, and recommendations for ongoing care and support.

Assignments will be scheduled as requirements arise, making this an ideal opportunity for independent contractors or OTs looking to supplement their existing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive client intake assessments in community and home settings.
  • Assess clients' functional abilities and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Complete home and environmental safety assessments.
  • Assess mobility, transfers, and equipment requirements.
  • Evaluate the need for assistive devices, including patient lifts/hoists and other mobility equipment.
  • Develop professional recommendations and complete assessment documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
  • Registered Occupational Therapist in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience conducting client assessments.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing home and environmental assessments.
  • Experience assessing mobility equipment, patient lifts/hoists, and safe patient transfers.
  • Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain coverage if required).
Compensation
  • Project-based / per-assessment compensation.
  • Expected range:
    Approximately $120–$200 per assessment, depending on assignment complexity, travel requirements, and reporting expectations.
  • Compensation will be discussed based on experience and assignment details.
