About the Opportunity The Analyst, Health Policy assists the policy team in representing the interests and Indigenous rights of the Métis Nation in interactions with internal and external stakeholders. By fostering relationships and embodying cultural sensitivity, the Analyst collaborates with government and organizational counterparts to develop meaningful recommendations that align with MNBC priorities. This role involves generating written analyses, engaging stakeholders, and undertaking technical writing.
The Analyst plays a pivotal role in enhancing the healthcare system's understanding of Métis needs and culture, conveying complex information through briefings, reports, and communication materials. Engaging in cooperative problem-solving, the Analyst aids in advancing Métis health and wellness, identifying alignment between strategic goals and the political landscape, and contributing to various reports and committees. Through continuous engagement and collaboration, this role strengthens MNBC's presence within the health policy realm.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates trusting relationships with health leaders and employees to teach the health system to respect and honors the unique needs, culture, and experience of the Métis.
- Communicates complex information to a high-level audience using briefing notes, reports, and other deliverables.
- Liaises with staff and engages with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fosters a practice of cooperative effort and collaborative problem-solving around issues related to improving the health and wellness of Métis people.
- Seeks and identifies alignment between MNBC’s strategic objectives and the political landscape.
- Prepares briefing and material packages, including advice and recommendations regarding MNBC’s Tri Ministry (Health, Mental Health & Harm Reduction, and Elders, Veterans & Abilities) work to the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership, and Métis Chartered Communities
- Collaborates with staff across MNBC to prepare research, grants, policies, and procedures that promote the Métis Social Determinants of Health model to internal and external stakeholders.
- Compiles research, data, statistics, investigation of facts, and other information to support the goals of the Métis Nation and Ministry of Health.
- Plans, prepares, and attends various engagement sessions with internal and external partners and generates reports on the proceedings and findings from the engagement.
- Supports the work of the Métis Data Governance Committee through the identification of health policy issues, report writing and research.
- Write draft policies and procedures by assembling and organizing information.
- Prepares a variety of progress reports for MNBC’s commitments to federal and provincial stakeholders.
- Supports Knowledge Translation work to provide updates to Métis Citizens and Communities about the work of MNBC provincially and federally.
- Supports the Executive Director of Health and Director of Health Governance to engage with Métis Governing Members and attends the Métis National Health Council.
- Monitors federal and provincial legislative proceedings relevant to the scope of MNBC’s Ministry of Health, Mental Health & Harm Reduction, Elders, Veterans Wellness, and Abilities.
- Liaises with internal and external stakeholders and meets with special interest groups and individuals, as needed.
- Prepares meeting materials and minutes and follows up on action items arising out of meetings to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Provides administrative support, including responding to email and phone inquiries, coordinating the flow of information to appropriate MNBC staff, and supporting project management.
- Performs various administrative tasks as assigned.
- Participates in committees and project teams as required.
