Position Summary

The Registered Dietitian provides nutrition assessment, care planning and monitoring for residents of Morgan Creek Seniors Community. Working collaboratively with residents, families, nursing, physicians, rehabilitation staff, pharmacy and food services, the Dietitian supports safe, appropriate and individualized nutrition care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete nutrition assessments for new admissions and residents identified as being at nutritional risk.
  • Develop, document and update individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Monitor residents experiencing weight loss, poor intake, swallowing concerns, dehydration, wounds or other nutrition-related conditions.
  • Review residents’ dietary needs, preferences, allergies, intolerances, therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and provide nutrition recommendations to residents, families and the care team.
  • Collaborate with nursing, physicians, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy and other clinical team members regarding nutrition and swallowing concerns.
  • Work with the Support Services Manager and food services team to support appropriate menus, textures, portions and meal service.
  • Review monthly weights, nutritional risk reports and relevant clinical documentation.
  • Complete referrals, progress notes and care-plan updates in Point Click Care .
  • Provide education to residents, families and staff regarding nutrition, hydration and therapeutic diets.
  • Support quality-improvement initiatives, audits, policy development and regulatory requirements related to nutrition and food services.
  • Attend relevant clinical meetings and committees as required.
  • Respond to nutrition-related concerns and communicate significant findings promptly to the appropriate team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Park Place policies, professional standards and applicable legislation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics or a related recognized program.
  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, as applicable.
  • Current membership with Dietitians of Canada is preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults or in long-term care is preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, texture-modified diets, dysphagia, wound healing and nutrition support.
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience using Point Click Care  is an asset.
Schedule

The position is part-time, with 15 scheduled hours weekly based on resident needs and operational requirements.
