Enhance the lives of residents at The Emerald as a Wellness Assistant. Engage in creative activities such as music, cooking, fitness, and gardening while promoting participation and social interaction.
As a Wellness Assistant, you will work under the Wellness Coordinator to implement resident-centered programs based on established procedures. With a minimum of a two-year Therapeutic Recreation Program, you will need two years of experience in a long-term care setting, along with First Aid/CPR certification.
Your role assists residents in learning new skills and participating in meaningful activities while reporting any concerns to the Wellness Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement arts, crafts, and fitness programs for residents
• Assist with mobility and transfers during activities
• Ensure residents have required assistive devices
• Promote and publicize upcoming community events
• Monitor and document changes in residents' abilities
Requirements:
• Completion of Therapeutic Recreation Program
• Minimum two years' experience in long-term care
• Valid Class 4 driver’s license as an asset
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Specialized training for dementia programming preferred
