Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. POSITION OVERVIEW

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Compensation Advisor to joinour Human Resources Division within the Corporate Services Bureau. Reporting tothe Compensation and Benefits Manager, the Compensation Advisor is a key memberof the Human Resources team, providing expertise in unionized job evaluation,classification, and compensation practices.

Working closely with managers, employees, unions, and other key stakeholders, the Compensation Advisor is responsible for administering and supporting all stagesof the unionized job evaluation and classification process. The position provides advice and recommendations on job content, classification, and compensation matters, while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with established policies, procedures, and collective agreement provisions.

Schedule / Hours of Work

Thisis an on-site position with an anticipated schedule of Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Please note, the hours are subject tochange in accordance with operational requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and amend class specifications by conducting job analysis and interviewing employees and managers to gather information regarding job duties, responsibilities, and requirements.
  • Conduct job evaluations for new and existing positions using established job evaluation methodology and processes.
  • Review and assess reclassification requests and provide recommendations based on job content and established evaluation criteria.
  • Provide quality assurance and consistency in compensation and job evaluation decisions.
  • Communicate job evaluation and classification outcomes, including the rationale for decisions, to unions, managers, and employees.
  • Participate in and conduct compensation surveys tosupport market analysis and compensation planning.
  • Provide advice and support in the development,review, and implementation of compensation-related policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Support the administration and implementation ofannual compensation programs and initiatives.
  • Support the job review and evaluation process forexempt positions.
  • Provide compensation-related advice and guidance to managers and HR stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to compensation projects, initiatives,and continuous improvement activities within Human Resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of compensation, job evaluation, classification, and related human resources practices.
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements, policies, procedures, and job evaluation methodologies.
  • Research and data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret and synthesize complex information.
  • Clearand effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative relationship-building skills with employees, managers, union representatives,and other stakeholders.
