Compensation:
Annual base salary $145,300 - $159,200 CAD, plus profit‑sharing bonus eligibility. Final compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.

As a Principal Dev Ops Engineer, you will shape the future of Safe Software’s infrastructure and deployment systems. You’ll take ownership of our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud/on‑prem environments, ensuring systems are resilient, efficient, and secure.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with development, QA, and IT teams to create seamless delivery experiences and reliable system operations. You’ll mentor engineers, influence Dev Ops best practices, and help teams across the organization adopt modern, scalable workflows.
This is a strategic and hands‑on role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for enabling others. You’ll play a key role in advancing Safe Software’s goals for innovation, growth, and continuous delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing- Design and evolve CI/CD pipelines that support scalable, secure, and efficient delivery.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Optimize hybrid environments (cloud and on‑premises) for performance, cost, and security.
- Implement and standardize monitoring, logging, and alerting practices across systems.
- Collaborate with developers, QA, and IT to ensure reliable and seamless deployments.
- Guide incident response processes and lead post‑mortem practices to improve system resilience.
- Establish and promote Dev Ops standards, tools, and automation across teams.
- Mentor Dev Ops engineers and support their technical growth and career development.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to support evolving infrastructure needs.
While not all candidates will have everything listed, the most successful candidates will bring many of the following:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering or Dev Ops, with at least 5 years in senior or leadership roles.
- Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or Git Lab CI.
- Strong proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python) and experience with version control (e.g., Git).
- Ability to influence Dev Ops strategy and lead cultural and process improvements across teams.
- Effective communicator and collaborator with a strategic mindset and a proactive approach.
- Experience mentoring Dev Ops engineers or leading internal learning initiatives.
- Familiarity with IT security best practices, compliance, or cost optimization in the cloud.
- Involvement in building or scaling platform engineering or Dev Ops communities of practice.
- Experience supporting high‑availability systems or global software deployments.
