Location & Compensation- Location:
This is a fully remote role open to candidates across Canada, except Quebec. If you’re located in the Vancouver, BC Lower Mainland, you can choose to work remotely, on-site at our Surrey headquarters, or in a hybrid arrangement. - Compensation:
Annual base salary: $62,800 to $70,400 CAD, plus eligibility for a profit-sharing bonus. This salary range reflects our reasonable estimate for the role. Final compensation may vary based on your experience, qualifications, and other factors. - Additional Requirements:
Employment is subject to successful completion of reference checks and a Canadian criminal background check.
Safe Software is looking for enthusiastic Quality Analysts to join our FME Engine Product Development team. As a Quality Analyst, you’ll play an important role in ensuring that the FME product platform meets our standard of excellence for all of our customers. Quality Analysts are embedded directly within each of our Product Development teams, working with Software Developers, Technical Team Leads, and QA peers across Development groups.
You’ll help ensure quality is ingrained in the software development process when creating new features for FME.
- Work as part of the Development team to go through the entire development cycle, using Scrum or Kanban.
- Test new features in the latest beta software and validate behaviour against acceptance criteria.
- Write detailed, comprehensive, well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Create automated regression tests or help develop testsuite frameworks.
- Contribute to feature development meetings with a quality perspective.
- Create clear and concise defect reports and enhancement requests.
- Provide input on user experience, including performance, to product development.
- Set up test environments with technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ArcGIS Online, etc.
- Participate in Quality team meetings to share ideas and brainstorm solutions.
- Explore new technical areas: containerization, web services, databases, AI, etc.
- Participate in cross-team events (Innovation Daze, Testsuite Evolution).

Required Skills- 1-2 years of experience in a testing role.
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, GIS or related field.
- Curiosity for technology and a love for problem solving.
- Self-motivated, proactive team player with a passion for helping others.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash.
- Thoroughness and high attention to detail.
- Ability to understand complex technical systems and describe problems clearly to the development team.
- Working knowledge or experience with FME.
- Experience in an Agile development environment (Scrum and/or Kanban).
- Experience with test automation and performance testing.
- Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience with GIS products (Esri ArcGIS, Map Info, Intergraph Geo Media, etc.).
- Experience with CAD/BIM applications (AutoCAD, Bentley Micro Station, Revit, etc.).
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.).
- Experience with databases (SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, MySQL, etc.). - Exposure to programming languages (Python, C++, Java, SQL).
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and macOS.
