The Role

Under managerial supervision, co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of end‑user workstations; provides end‑user hardware and software support; co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of servers; co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of network infrastructure; maintains system software; maintains an accurate hardware/software inventory and ensures license compliance.

Co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of end‑user workstations by:

  • Installing and configuring operating systems and software.
  • Ensuring software patches are applied to workstations in a timely manner and in accordance with supplier recommendations.
  • Making purchasing recommendations for replacement hardware and software.
  • Maintaining Office 365, Adobe and related core business applications.
  • Maintaining Intune, Group Policy and other automation tools.

Provides end‑user hardware and software support by:

  • Assessing user issues and repairing/patching software as required.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware or software issues.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation on standard operating procedures.

Co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of servers by:

  • Researching, planning, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining and upgrading server hardware, operating systems and software including backup software, monitoring software, server roles, and utilities.
  • Collecting information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
  • Providing purchase recommendations for hardware and software replacement.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation on server and infrastructure design and inter‑system dependencies.

Co‑ordinates the installation and maintenance of network infrastructure by:

  • Making purchasing recommendations and installation.
  • Analyzing network security, recommending configuration changes and planning deployment to protect the environment.
  • Maintaining documentation on network and infrastructure design.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures.

Maintains an accurate hardware/software inventory and ensures license compliance by:

  • Performing regular inventory audits and ensuring that no unauthorized software is installed.
  • Maintaining license assignment with staff growth and role needs.
  • Managing aging hardware recommendations and replacements.

Performs other incidental duties related to information systems operation and administration, as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

Technical Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft systems such as Active Directory, Office 365, Azure.
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of basic programming fundamentals.
  • A+ Certificate, an asset.
  • Knowledge in printer and receipt printer management.
  • Knowledge of a variety of office software including MS Office, PDF software.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technology (Hyper‑V and VMware).
  • Knowledge of network operating principles and components.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures.
