As a Commercial Lines Account Executive at Schill Insurance, you are responsible for growing and protecting a portfolio of commercial clients. You build strong relationships, lead strategic conversations, and apply technical expertise and judgement to assess risk and structure coverage effectively. You are a trusted advisor to clients and a key contributor to Schill’s long-term growth.
Responsibilities Business Growth & New Business Development- Accountable for retention, growth, and overall client experience of current book.
- Balance new business activity with long-term portfolio quality, fit, and sustainability.
- Drive new business through referrals, centers of influence, networking, and proactive prospecting.
- Lead client and prospect meetings focused on understanding operations, uncovering risk, and positioning Schill as a trusted advisor.
- Build and maintain a visible presence in the community to attract new opportunities.
- Maintain an active pipeline and follow through consistently on sales activity and opportunities.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity, market wins and losses, and emerging opportunities.
- Act as the primary relationship contact for commercial clients, balancing advisory credibility with commercial outcomes.
- Lead renewal conversations with a focus on changes in operations, market conditions, and long-term client outcomes.
- Assess client operations, risk exposures, and coverage needs, and provide clear, practical recommendations.
- Ensure coverage is structured thoughtfully, with no unintended gaps, and aligned to client risk tolerance and business goals.
- Communicate proactively with clients throughout the policy lifecycle, including renewals, endorsements, and changes in exposure.
- Manage new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations in accordance with Schill and insurer guidelines.
- Review and interpret policy wording to confirm accuracy, intent, and appropriateness of coverage.
- Support remarketing decisions where needed to protect retention and ensure long-term account health.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely client records in Epic, including documentation of conversations and decisions.
- Produce professional, clear written correspondence that reflects Schill’s standards and brand.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience.
- Maintain strong working relationships with insurer partners, underwriters, and industry bodies.
- Stay informed on market conditions, insurer appetites, and emerging industry trends.
- Continuously build technical knowledge of commercial coverages, products, and risk exposures.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects Schill Insurance’s values, professionalism, and reputation.
- Confident, outward-facing presence with comfort initiating conversations and building new relationships
- Commercial curiosity and drive to uncover opportunities, not just respond to requests
- Clear, persuasive communication that connects client needs to value and solutions
- Ownership for personal results, pipeline activity, and follow-through
- Balanced persistence that respects client trust, long-term relationships, and sound judgment
- A collaborative approach with account managers and associates, recognizing shared accountability for client success and growth
- Level 2 general insurance license
- Strong working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, products, and common risk exposures
- Solid understanding of insurer requirements and underwriting principles
- Familiarity with current market conditions, trends, and industry issues
- Proficiency with Epic or similar broker management systems
- Salary range: $75,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience
- Three weeks (15 days) of vacation to start
- Three paid “You” days per year (one volunteer day, one personal day, and your birthday off with pay)
- Full medical and dental benefits after a three-month probationary period
- RSP matching after one year, starting at a 2% contribution and increasing with years of service
