Job Summary:
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the implementation and adherence of best practices around facility maintenance at our various sites and is a full-time position. This role is responsible for conducting and coordinating routine and non-routine maintenance activities for all Phoenix facilities, provides oversight to safety and efficiently performs work activities. It handles various areas of business repair and aids in the implementation of maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance
Promotes and maintains a welcoming environment for residents, guests and staff, maintaining a positive demeanor when interacting with othersEnsures that Phoenix Society’s facilities are maintained to a high standard of care, ensuring we meet licensing and safety standardsProvides overall maintenance repairs and project coordination to ensure that work is planned and executed safely and efficientlyWorks with the supervisor and management teams to document and align processes for outside servicesLiaises with contractors for site work that is beyond the scope of the Phoenix maintenance teamOversees the development of maintenance procedures. Makes recommendations for the development of new and/or modifications to existing proceduresPerforms on-site work scoping and estimating for routine and non-routine maintenance activitiesAssists in implementing improvements to facility performance and equipment maintenance strategiesAssists in turnaround planning and scheduling as requiredActs as the on-site management representative and liaison when the management team is off siteResponds to maintenance and repair requests, emergency or otherwiseProactively inspects grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine if repairs or preventive maintenance is requiredResponds to and plans for completion of maintenance tasks, as requested by their managersDetects, identifies and repairs building deficiencies, in coordination with managementCompletes safety checks and conducts routine maintenance on systems and equipment, including maintaining records of this workPerforms general maintenance tasks for the buildings, such as painting, power washing, major clean ups, event setup/take downAssists with administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining inventory systems, filing, records keeping, and purchasing systemOther duties that may be assignedQualifications:
Academic:
Successful completion of Grade 121 to 3 years of related experience such as facilities maintenance and/or light construction tasks including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and finishing workRelated post-secondary and WHMIS training is an assetDriver’s License:
Class 5 license accompanied by suitable drivers abstractSatisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is requiredSatisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is requiredSatisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is requiredFirst aid certification with CPR is requiredSkills & Knowledge:
English: fluent and able to effectively communicate professionally, both orally and writtenDemonstrated experience in facilities operations and maintenanceAbility to do work inside and outdoors, and significant physical activity, including heavy lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, and standing for extended periods of timeComputer:proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and databasesSuperior time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-taskAbility to successfully collaborate with diverse personalities and communicate professionally and respectfully with all levels of the organizationHigh energy level, positive attitude, willingness to learn and growExhibits a professional demeanorAppreciative of, and adaptable to, a diverse and multicultural environmentThe ability to function independently while managing multiple tasks and able to adapt to change is an ongoing expectation of this positionFlexibility to work during evenings and weekends, and be on call, as neededCompetencies:
