Pay Range: $26.87 to $28.75 per hour
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: Until Return of Incumbent
Schedule: 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Manager or designate, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of cleaning, landscaping and interior & exterior maintenance duties at Coast properties.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance and repair work such as unplugging sinks and toilets, minor drywall repairs, touch up paint, changing locks and door handles, and replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes. Notify supervisor of major repair needs and arrange quotes from external contractors as required.
- Repair furniture, construct shelves, install switches and dimmers, replace plugs and fuses, perform minor electrical repairs, apply paint and finishes, and repair equipment or plumbing fixtures as needed.
- Clean, wash, and disinfect building areas including walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, mattresses, blinds, and washrooms using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
- Clean external areas such as entrance ways, sidewalks, and parking lots using manual and power tools to remove dirt, leaves, snow and other refuse; perform general groundskeeping.
- Monitor and manage maintenance and housekeeping supplies; place purchase orders, receive goods, check invoices, store and distribute supplies, and contact suppliers for information.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclables; ensure safe disposal of hazardous waste.
- Monitor contractor work, obtain quotes, and arrange for minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Solicit quotes from service providers, vendors and contractors for equipment and parts as required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation during evenings and weekends (one week every six weeks) to respond to building emergencies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent;
Certificate in Building Service/Cleaning or equivalent with two years of related experience preferred. - Proficient with small power tools and equipment (e.g., hammer drills, augers, skill-saws).
- Ability to work unsupervised and exercise sound judgment.
- WHMIS certification.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s license.
- First Aid certificate.
- Ability to work on-call during evenings and weekends and at locations across the Lower Mainland.
