Located at 13055 80 Avenue, Surrey, BC, this full-time position offers a consistent Monday-to-Friday schedule, ensuring 40 hours per week with no weekend shifts.
Why this role mattersThe Material Handler in a branch is responsible for shipping, receiving, and moving products safely and efficiently while maintaining an organized and tidy warehouse and stock environment. They provide support to the customer and sales staff regarding the product, order quantity, availability, and location of stock. The role of a Material Handler is essential for the smooth operation of a branch because it directly impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of inventory management, product distribution, and customer satisfaction.
WhatTo Expect In
The Role
- Order Assembly:
Generates pick tickets, gathers materials, and places them in designated areas. Operates necessary equipment and warehouse software (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, RF Scanner). - Packing & Shipping:
Packs, weighs, and labels shipments. Prepares bills of lading, coordinates pickups, and processes shipping paperwork. Assists with entering orders for invoicing. - Receiving:
Unloads, inspects, and verifies stock against manifests. Updates inventory, addresses errors/damages, and coordinates returns with suppliers or Head Office. - Stock Keeping:
Conducts cycle counts, consolidates materials, and ensures FIFO stock rotation. Handles bin relocations and reel conversions. - Warehouse Maintenance:
Keeps the warehouse clean and organized. Assembles/disassembles storage units and reports hazards. - Customer/Sales Support:
Assists sales with priority orders, provides stock availability updates, and helps customers with inquiries and loading.
- High school completion
- Computer literacy with the ability to learn new software programs
- Basic mathematical skills with the ability to calculate simple equations mentally
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand/move for 6+ hours per day
- Ability to be inclusive, collaborative, and respectful
- Previous experience in warehouse operations including shipping/receiving is an asset
