Job Summary

Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) in Surrey, B.C. is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). Located in one of British Columbia’s fastest growing communities, Surrey Memorial is the second largest hospital in the province, delivering specialized care to residents across the Fraser Health region. This full-time role invites you to bring your clinical expertise, compassion, and dedication to a highly collaborative, team-based model of care.

Working in close partnership with cardiologists who remain Most Responsible Physicians (MRPs) or consultants of the patients, the NP will play an essential part in advancing patient outcomes and cardiac care excellence.

Examples of in-house residency rotations include:
Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Acute Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation clinic, and various Heart function clinics in the FH region. Be part of our clinical enhancement program with regular in-house skills development such as 12-lead ECG interpretation, Point of Care ultrasound (POCUS), suturing, and x-ray interpretation, plus centralized NP orientation. You will be welcomed into a New Graduate NP Community of Practice team supporting your transition into independent practice.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients, including diagnosing diseases and conditions, initiating treatment, managing health care, prescribing medications, and providing professional guidance to other health professionals. The NP practices autonomously and interdependently within an interdisciplinary team, making referrals to specialists as appropriate. The position collaborates with patients and other health professionals to identify trends and implement population- and evidence-based strategies to improve health, and participates in peer review and self-review to evaluate service outcomes at patient and population levels.
