The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour.
Job SummaryWe are currently hiring for a Casual Registered Nurse, Renal Services to join the Hemo Dialysis team at Surrey Memorial Hospital located in Surrey, B.C. This position requires post‑graduate specialty education in Nephrology. If you have not completed a post‑graduate program in Nephrology (Hemodialysis‑Renal) but are interested, please apply and indicate your interest in pursuing specialty education. Fraser Health offers sponsorship for RNs/LPNs to gain specialty education through an in‑house program affiliated with BC Renal.

In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients and may be requested to perform duties at various sites within Fraser Health.
Responsibilities- Conducts a comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient on admission and at regular intervals, develops nursing diagnoses, and plans interventions.
- Collaborates with patients, families, physicians and the inter‑professional care team in developing and modifying care plans.
- Participates in care and discharge planning, ensuring effective implementation of care plans.
- Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, assigns tasks and makes referrals according to protocols.
- Teaches patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration and maintenance.
- Documents assessments, interventions, outcomes and referrals following practice standards.
- Participates in in‑services, educational programs and maintains clinical competence.
- Acts as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students.
- Participates in quality improvement, risk management, research and special projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM.
- Two years of recent, related clinical nursing experience in a designated area and completion of post‑graduate coursework or certification applicable to the area.
- Clinical proficiency in the designated area.
- Ability to initiate and maintain IV therapy.
- Ability to perform initial and ongoing patient assessment and apply nursing theory.
- Ability to recognize acuity changes and use evidence‑based practice.
- Effective communication with patients, families and healthcare team.
- Promotion of person‑centered care and empathy for patients and families.
- Data integration and problem‑solving skills.
- Planning, organizing and prioritizing work in changing environments.
- Independent work and collaboration within the inter‑professional team.
- Teaching and instruction of patients and community partners.
- Adaptability and ability to promote change.
- Operating related equipment and computer applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
