Position Summary
IEM is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for our Surrey, B.C. locations who will report to the Director of Quality. The role focuses on developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, implementing a Vendor Management program, and supporting metrics to strengthen quality across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include ensuring supplier compliance with regulations, updating supplier performance records, creating and promoting quality control guidelines, advising vendors on defect reduction, and conducting audits and site visits. The candidate will serve as a liaison between vendors and company leaders, manage process improvement initiatives, and support continuous improvement activities. Additional duties may involve risk assessments, PFMEA, Six Sigma, 5S, FOD prevention, Kaizen, IPC standards, and understanding UL, CSA, and other regulatory requirements.
EssentialFunctions
- Ensuring suppliers maintain all regulations and requirements
- Updating the supplier database with continuously updated records of performance
- Creating quality control guidelines and protocols
- Providing advice to vendors on how to reduce defect rates
- Performing logistics tasks, such as communicating with vendors when supplies don’t meet quality standards
- Assessing products and supplies from vendors to ensure their quality
- Creating and promoting strategies to increase the quality and efficiency of systems and products
- Conducting audits of supplier management quality systems
- Acting as a liaison between vendors and company leaders, determining solutions to any challenges to quality standards
- Visiting vendor facilities to ensure they uphold quality standards
- Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Oversee and develop process improvements strategies and documents
- Develop & implement Vendor Management program and supporting metrics
- Perform any related duties in connection with the position, including risk assessments, PFMEA, Six Sigma, 5S, FOD prevention, Kaizen, IPC standards, understanding of UL, CSA, and other regulatory requirements

- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Understanding of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or Materials Engineering
- Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promo table with potential to take on broader leadership roles
Physical demands: 70% sitting, 30% walking/standing, 30% travel; capable of lifting up to 10 lbs. Vision: long periods of close work on a computer screen. Mental demands: interpretation, analysis, research, and multitasking. Environment: climate‑controlled office space (70%) with 30% in production areas.
CompensationThe hourly pay range for this position is C $32.21–C $56.25.
