Position Summary

Reporting to the Test Manager, the QC Equipment Manager is responsible for the readiness, repair, and configuration management of all QC test equipment supporting products at our Surrey, BC site. This role includes owning the inventory of test equipment components, procurement of repair parts, and the development and upkeep of work instructions for each test process and piece of equipment. The QC Equipment Manager leads training on the proper use of test equipment and required safety topics, maintains accurate training records, and reinforces the safety culture across the department

Key Responsibilities Safety
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety; ensure all QC and test personnel follow established safety guidelines.
  • Deliver training on Electrical Safety and Shock, Arc Flash Safety, and NFPA 70E requirements, including PPE and safe test practices.
  • Verify all test equipment configurations remain current and compliant with internal standards and applicable industry regulations.
Quality
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration dates, and configuration history for all product test equipment and tools across Van.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain Work Instruction documents for each test process and piece of test equipment.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing equipment records, calibration history, and training documentation on request.
Delivery
  • Maintain product test equipment readiness across Van, including calibration, functionality, and safe operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and updates to test equipment to keep all tools fully operational.
  • Procure necessary parts and components for test equipment repairs and upgrades; coordinate with purchasing to meet schedule needs.
  • Communicate risks related to equipment availability, schedule, material, or technical issues to leadership with clear evidence and recommended actions.
Cost
  • Manage the inventory of test equipment, components, and accessories; maintain adequate stock levels without overbuilding.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of test equipment; recommend replacements or upgrades based on reliability, cost of ownership, and capability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test processes, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.
Training and Development
  • Conduct training sessions on proper equipment usage, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures for test and QC team members.
  • Document and retain training records in accordance with department standards.
  • Develop and maintain processes for the proper usage and handling of test equipment and tools.
Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for test equipment failures and provide input into corrective action plans.
  • Generate and support Corrective Action Reports (CAR) to address equipment-related issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Enforce escalation processes for safety, quality, and critical equipment failures
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align quality priorities with production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL
  • QC Technicians (for Equipment)
COMPETENCIES
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements including NFPA 70E, PPE, and safe test practices.
  • Working knowledge of UL standards, customer specifications, and test compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, switch gear, and test methods used for products in the Van facility.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
  • Hands-on experience with relay protection testing, functional testing, and system validation.
