Safety, Risk & Compliance Specialist

We are currently searching for a Safety, Risk & Compliance Specialist tojoin our BC team at Emterra Group. The Health & Safety Specialist will playa key role in strengthening and advancing our safety culture by supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety management systems across our operations. This role will provide leadership,guidance, and technical support to operational managers and supervisors in implementing company safety programs, processes, and initiatives.
The position reports to the Director of Health & Safety/Risk.
Position Description- Support the ongoing development,implementation, and maintenance of company-wide Health & Safety management systems, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Support the organization’s COR certification requirements, including audit preparation, documentation review,corrective action tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement, maintain, and improve
Health & Safety processes aligned with ISO 45001 Occupational Health &Safety Management System standards. - Conduct safety audits, workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with operational leaders to develop and implement location-specific safety processes, procedures, andbest practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete
Health & Safety records and documentation to meet regulatory and company requirements. - Review accident/incident reporting, identify trends, and provide guidance in developing and sustaining corrective and preventive action plans.
- Manage Health & Safety data,reporting, and trend analysis for assigned sites.
- Support incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and provide guidance on safety initiatives.
- Develop, update, and deliver employee Health & Safety training programs.
- Maintain safety management software systems and reporting tools as required.
- Identify hazards and unsafe work practices through site inspections, employee engagement, and operational knowledge.
- Provide recommendations to improve safety performance and reduce workplace risks.
- Maintain current knowledge ofhealth and safety legislation, regulatory requirements, industry trends, andbest practices
- Proven ability to coach,influence, and build strong relationships with employees, supervisors,managers, and leadership teams.
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within a multi-site,industrial, transportation, manufacturing, or waste management environment.
- Completion of post-secondary education from a recognized Occupational Health & Safety program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification is required.
- Experience supporting CORaudits, maintaining certification requirements, and implementing corrective action plans.
