Position: University Research Assistant (Research Assistant)
About The Opportunity  This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is a great opportunity for students or youth looking to gain hands‑on experience in a professional, team‑based environment. You will support literature reviews, surveys, and research activities, as well as assist in compiling and analyzing data for reports, publications, and scholarly work. The role includes supporting research and evaluation projects within the Ministry of Health and Wellness, conducting environmental scans of Métis literature, and assisting with the drafting of engagement reports or abstracts for conferences.

You will work closely with the research team to help synthesize findings and contribute to knowledge sharing and reporting.

This role offers valuable, practical experience for those interested in policy research within the health and wellness field, or administrative careers.
As per Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, candidates must be:
Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Job Duties   Conduct literature reviews, surveys, and other research for scholarly publications or engagement reports
Compile research findings and assist with data analysis and knowledge translation
Support research and evaluation projects within the Ministry of Health and Wellness
Conduct environmental scans on Métis-related literature and research topics
Assist in drafting abstracts for conferences and presentations
Use and adapt to various technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, and other software as needed)
Handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Collaborate effectively in an office and team environment (experience considered an asset)
Education   In pursue of or holding College diploma/University degree in related field
