The Clinic Volunteer plays a vital role in planning and leading a variety of engaging activities tailored to the needs of children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other learning and developmental delays. The Clinic Volunteer will help create a safe, organized, and positive camp environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and skill development while accommodating behavioral challenges.
Location and duration: June 29th - August 21st.
Working hours:
8:00am - 4:00pm PST.
Clinic based: Choose from Surrey Panorama / Guildford / Fleetwood location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee diverse daily activities, creating an engaging and supportive atmosphere.
- Aid in picking activities, motivating team participation and imaginative thinking.
- Proactively encourage positive behavior and teamwork, addressing behavioral challenges as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity environment at all times.
- Complete incident reports in Microsoft Teams within 24 hours as per regional requirements.
- Provide professional, positive, and respectful communication updates regarding behavior to caregivers.
Qualifications:
- We encourage current university students pursuing careers in Occupational Therapy, Speech‑Language Pathology, Behaviour Analysis, Education, Early Childhood Development, or Psychology.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Experience in program coordination, recreational center‑oriented, or community‑based work is an asset.
- Experience working with a group of children with diverse needs is an asset.
