Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Be the gateway to support and success! We’re seeking a proactive Intake Specialist to assess client eligibility and connect them to the services they need. If you excel at managing client flow and enjoy creating smooth, welcoming experiences both in person and online, join BC NSP and help shape positive journeys from day one.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will assess client eligibility using the BC NSP Eligibility Matrix and conduct initial needs assessments, providing accurate information about services. They will coordinate urgent responses for refugee claimants, collaborate with community providers, and manage client data and reports through program forms and the OCMS database. Responsibilities also include greeting clients, handling online inquiries, performing administrative duties, maintaining confidential records, and supporting the program manager with statistical reporting and inventory management.

Additionally, the specialist contributes to program quality improvement, strategic planning, and communication efforts to enhance service delivery and community outreach.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds post-secondary education in business administration or a related field, along with at least one year of recent experience working with refugee claimants, asylum seekers, newcomers, or vulnerable populations. They are highly organized, dependable, and skilled at prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines efficiently. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to multitask, take direction, and work independently, are essential.

The candidate has a clear understanding of the unique challenges faced by immigrants and refugees, possesses knowledge of government and community resources, and excels in interpersonal communication, intercultural competency, crisis intervention, and problem-solving. They thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate professionalism, and are sensitive and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
