Surrey Family Counselling Specialist

In this role, the Family Counsellor will engage directly with youth and families, delivering brief solution-focused counselling services. The position emphasizes extensive knowledge of family dynamics and effective communication strategies while addressing potential child protection issues with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. As part of the Surrey Youth Hubs, collaboration with an integrated staff team is a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough assessments of family dynamics and child protections
• Offer crisis intervention and brief counselling support
• Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution sessions
• Participate in group facilitation with a focus on cultural competency
• Support Indigenous and South Asian youth and families effectively
Requirements:
• Deep understanding of child development and attachment theory
• Proven experience in crisis response and mediation strategies
• Capable of facilitating culturally competent group sessions
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Commitment to community engagement in Surrey
