Indigenous Community Specialist

Join the Community Integration Services Branch as a specialist in Surrey, BC, focusing on Indigenous client support.

This role offers 80-85% community interaction and targeted case management skills.

Collaborating with the Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association, you will provide essential services for Indigenous individuals dealing with homelessness, poverty, and mental health issues. Your efforts will be crucial in fostering independence through culturally informed practices and relationship-building with community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage intensive casework for Indigenous clients in crisis

• Link clients to suitable housing and care opportunities

• Cultivate meaningful connections with Indigenous and service providers

• Apply trauma-informed practices in client interactions

• Maintain compliance with service standards and client documentation

Requirements:

• Must be a self-identified Indigenous applicant (First Nations, Métis, Inuit)

• Secondary graduation with three years of relevant experience

• Experience serving Indigenous populations under challenging conditions

• Background in community outreach or related fields preferred

• Lived experience of addiction or mental health issues is beneficial
