Phoenix, Center (Main Campus) – Part Time – Sundays and Mondays 11:00pm–7:00am – Reports to Senior Manager – Compensation: $29.76–$31.64 per hour.
The primary role of a Youth Support Worker is to build trusting, supportive professional relationships with youth and young adults in the Youth & Young Adult (YAYA) Program. The worker supports clients to reach their goals, transition to healthy adulthood, and re‑enter the community when ready.
Responsibilities- Welcome and orient youth/young adults accessing Phoenix services upon entry to the Program (introduce and explain services, facility tours, program orientation).
- Actively engage with and develop relationships with at‑risk youth and young adults aged 17–24.
- Coordinate youth meetings and activities, including recreation and life‑skills, individually and with primary treatment providers.
- Respond to and attend to clients’ immediate needs (food, clothing, recreational opportunities).
- Assist clients with daily instrumental activities, household upkeep, and community participation.
- Collaborate with staff to assist youth in attaining short‑ and long‑term goals, develop strategies and action plans per care plans.
- Help youth access external community supports and accompany them when required.
- Respond to medical emergencies or concerns related to behavior, mental health, emotional issues, or substance use using trauma‑informed practice.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the residence, including laundry as needed.
- Manage youth case files, relevant reporting, and documentation.
- Attend all training and meetings directed by manager.
- Complete room searches and cleans upon client discharge.
- Monitor site security and address safety concerns, including controlled access and tracking client whereabouts.
- Complete critical‑incident reports as policy requires.
- Grade 12 certificate in Community Social Service or equivalent.
- Recent, related experience (≥1year) providing community social services to youth and young adults, substance‑use, mental‑health or corrections populations.
- Valid Class5 driver’s licence with clean abstract.
- First Aid with CPR‑C‑AED certificate (preferred).
- Food Safe certificate (preferred).
- Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention training certificate (preferred).
- Food Protection Certification is required.
