Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is growing and has a new opportunity for a  Senior Data Engineer, Data Platform & Operations.  This role is a  hybrid  role based out of our head office in  Surrey, BC.

Expected Compensation:  The expected annual hiring range for this role is  $120,000 to $147,000  based on a 35-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role and internal equity.

As a  Senior Data Engineer , you'll play a key role in designing and delivering modern data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data initiatives across the organization. Working with technologies including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake, you'll help build the trusted, scalable, and governed data foundation that enables teams across Westland to make data-driven decisions with confidence.

Why We'll Love You

You bring 7+ years of experience in data engineering, helping to design, build, and optimize enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and data products.

You have strong expertise in SQL, Apache Spark (PySpark), Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and modern cloud-based data engineering practices.

You have experience designing data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse architectures, and analytics-ready datasets that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.

You’re passionate about building scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions, with a focus on performance, governance, operational excellence, and data quality.

You have experience with enterprise data governance frameworks and tools such as Microsoft Purview, and experience with Power BI and Azure Synapse is considered an asset.

You're an effective communicator who can collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, while mentoring others and contributing to engineering best practices.
